The Purse Auction held at The Harrison on Saturday, August 2, 2008 was a great success ! Lunch was served to our guests, State Representative Phil Hinkle (House District 92) came and spoke to those attending, a video made by Terry Moore, president of Beacon of Hope Center for Women, Inc. was played and then there was a Live purse auction.

About 95 women attended the event and raised nearly $3000 to aid Beacon of Hope Center for Women, Inc.

We are excited and thankful to be able to announce that we have received our determination letter from the IRS and we are now recognized as a 501 (c) 3 Non-profit organization.

June 6, 2008

The many items donated by the community for our Community Sale at Crestwood Village on May 31, 2008 made for a wonderful selection from which people could choose their purchases. In all, the Beacon of Hope Center for Women Inc. received approximately $700 from the Community Sale. A "BIG THANK YOU" to all who donated items and the volunteers that worked so hard to make it happen.

We have received notification from the Internal Revenue Service that they have received our application and are processing it.

March 19, 2008

GREAT NEWS! We filed our Form 1023 application for 501 (c) 3 status (tax exempt) with the Internal Revenue Service on March 19, 2008. We are very hopeful that we will receive the IRS Determination Letter soon.

January 26, 2008
Approximately 220 people attended the benefit concert named, Hearts for Hope, held at Crestwood Village West on January 26, 2008. It was a fun-filled evening that not only raised funds to aid Beacon of Hope Center for Women, Inc. but it also highlighted the need for working against domestic violence abuse.

December 14, 2007
On December 14, 2007 our President, Terry Moore, and one of the founders, Nancy Waltz, appeared on a talk show on 90.9 FM to speak about domestic violence and the Beacon of Hope Center for Women, Inc. They spoke of the need for another shelter in the Indianapolis area, and presented some facts about domestic violence. They mentioned that domestic violence can also occur in teen dating relationships and that our teens need to be informed about it as well.

October 27,2007

Beacon of Hope Rally Oct. 27, 2007 We hosted our first annual rally against domestic violence on October 27,2007. Speakers included Bob Lutz (City Council District #13), Marilyn Pfisterer (City Council #14), and Steve Cannon (Evangelist - Indianpolis Church of Christ). We heard very moving life stories from two survivors of domestic abuse. The children that were present were entertained nearby by Peanut Butter the clown, and participated in games and face painting.
